6 September 2020 ~ Vera Chua

Vera is learning about textures today and first time creating splatter effect with a brush. While she was fascinated with a brush, she was understandably concerned about getting her fingers dirty with paint! πŸ˜‚

After explaining to her that she could wash off the paints easily, she was more at ease and proceeded to try out all her fingers, to see which is better at the task! πŸ˜†

Love it, when I see the students fully engaged in making art! 😁

And a beautiful piece of work to show for it!

23 August 2020 ~ Little Sara

4-year-old little Sara can’t resist Art when she comes by to pick up her siblings… πŸ˜†

Story is evolving as she draws… and we are enjoying her narration… 😁

Children have such flexible and creative minds!

General story line is about a girl zookeeper (wearing lots of lipstick and holding a walking stick) and the animals in the zoo…

Can you spot the girl?

Vera’s learning that everything around us is made of shapes…

… and a pair of scissors can also be a drawing tool!

Objects around us are made up of combinations of shapes in different sizes and proportions.

Putting together all the pieces to form a composition.

It was really interesting listening to her tell her narrative as she progressed. Sometimes it doesn’t quite make sense to me as the logical adult but what impressed me was her creativity and agility of mind as she makes sense of her world.

Her final story…

A man is walking down to the basement to collect cakes from a cake machine.

In the basement, there are pretend flowers and grass growing. Someone lost a watch and it is lying on the grass.

At street level, there is a car with a handbag in the car.

Amazing how adding colours and textures to the background makes the whole piece stand out!

Look at the cute animals! Can you recognise the giraffe, elephant, zebra, rhino and camel?

Good job, Vera! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Getting inspiration from toy animals…

This is Vera’s zoo, where she is the zoo keeper and the zoo belongs to her! Lots of very imaginative ideas and stories here…

She was so keen to start painting… πŸ˜„
